Before signing the high-budget pan-India film Liger with producer Karan Johar, Vijay Deverakonda had already established himself as a star in Telugu cinema. However, the film’s significant failure dealt a severe blow to the actor’s career. In a recent media interaction, Vijay discussed the impact of the film’s critical and commercial failure.
The Telugu actor, who is set to appear in the upcoming film Family Star, mentioned that although his approach to work remains consistent after the release of Liger, there is one specific habit that he opted to alter.
During a press conference reported by India Today, Vijay stated, “There has been no alteration in my attitude. I have maintained consistency both before and after the release. The sole distinction is that I resolved not to discuss the outcomes of my films (prior to release) for the next three movies or so. That’s the self-imposed discipline I’ve set for myself.”
Prior to the release of Liger, Vijay had announced that he would begin tracking box office figures only once the film surpassed Rs 200 crore. However, the movie fell short, garnering just Rs 48.58 crore in India and concluding its worldwide run with approximately Rs 60 crore.
Despite the setback, the actor holds an optimistic outlook towards his role in Family Star. In an interview with Galatta Plus, Vijay described the character as a “blessing.” He remarked, “I have been fortunate to portray roles early in my career that have left a lasting impact. Arjun Reddy, under Sandeep’s direction, being one. I consider the character I portray in Family Star to be another such blessing.” Family Star is slated for release on April 5th.
