On Monday, the Delhi High Court rejected Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra’s plea. She had sought to restrain BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai from accusing her of bribery for raising questions in Parliament. Justice Sachin Datta, who had reserved the verdict on Moitra’s plea for interim relief on December 20, dismissed it on March 4.

In December last year, Ms. Moitra faced expulsion from the Lok Sabha following allegations by Mr. Dubey and Mr. Dehadrai that she accepted bribes from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to raise questions in Parliament. Ms. Moitra denied these accusations, labeling them as political vendetta. Subsequently, she initiated a defamation case against the two individuals and sought legal recourse through the High Court.

Additionally, they accused the former MP of granting full access to her online Lok Sabha account to Mr. Hiranandani, allowing him to submit Parliamentary questions of his choosing.
