Sonam Maskar secured the women’s air rifle silver, narrowly edged out by 0.9 points by Anna Janssen of Germany, at the shooting World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, on Sunday.
Nancy Mandhotra also advanced to the final with an impressive qualification score of 633.1 but fell short of a medal by a mere 0.2 points.
In the women’s 25-meter sports pistol final on Monday, Simranpreet Kaur Brar finished fifth after topping the qualification with 586 points.
Rhythm Sangwan scored 582 points, missing the final by just one point. Manu Bhaker, an Olympic quota winner in the event, finished 14th with a score of 580.
In men’s skeet, Munek Battula impressed with a score of 74 out of 75, putting him among the leaders. Abhay Singh Sekhon secured the 19th place with a score of 72. However, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, an Asian Games silver medallist and Olympic quota winner, struggled and found himself in the 53rd spot with a score of 67.
For the women’s skeet, Raiza Dhillon (68), Areeba Khan (67), and Ganemat Sekhon (67) claimed the 17th to 20th spots. The top six will advance to the finals following two more rounds on Tuesday.
