Prasanth Varma’s superhero flick, HanuMan, continues to draw audiences to theaters even after its two-week run. Initially opening to a respectable Rs 4 crore, the film saw a significant surge in box office receipts, driven by positive word of mouth. Despite the release of Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter on January 25, HanuMan raked in an impressive Rs 6.25 crore on Saturday, followed by a collection of Rs 8 crore on Republic Day, bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 164.75 crore.

The makers of HanuMan proudly announced that the film has now grossed Rs 250 crore worldwide. Notably, it maintained a solid 49.76 percent occupancy rate in Telugu territories on Saturday.

HanuMan clashed head-to-head with Mahesh Babu’s “Guntur Kaaram,” directed by Trivikram. “Guntur Kaaram” has raked in an impressive Rs 121 crore in India thus far. The Sankranti week witnessed a fierce battle at the box office with five films vying for attention: “HanuMan,” “Guntur Kaaram,” “Merry Christmas,” “Ayalaan,” and “Captain Miller.” Despite the intense competition, “HanuMan” emerged triumphant and continues to maintain its strong hold.

Starring Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vinay Rai, and Raj Deepak Shetty in significant roles, “HanuMan” captivated audiences. Director Varma recently shed light on the clash with Mahesh Babu and Trivikram, stating that they were left with no choice as the dates for the Hindi release had already been finalized by Anil Thadani.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Varma shared, “Both films hit the screens on the same day. Mahesh Babu is such a colossal star; no one dares to challenge him. It’s unthinkable for anyone to release their film on the same day as Mahesh Babu, especially during Sankranti. And when he teams up with Trivikram sir, it’s an unbeatable combination.”
