Airtel, the owner of Wynk Music, a prominent music streaming platform in the country, has recently launched Wynk Studio, a dedicated platform for artists. Airtel revealed that Indians spend over 21 hours per week on music, surpassing the global average of 18 hours.
Wynk Studio aims to address key challenges faced by artists, including discovery, monetization, and data analysis. Adarsh Nair, CEO of Airtel Digital, expressed the company’s commitment to nurturing the creator economy for music, stating that Wynk Studio provides a platform for aspiring musicians to pursue their passion and generate income simultaneously.
With an investment of Rs 100 crore, Wynk Studio aims to onboard more than 5000 independent artists by the end of the next year. Currently, the platform already boasts over 100 artists from India, Singapore, and the United States, including names like Nishad Patki, Gagan Baderiya, Ajay Nagarkoti, D-Shaw, and Prateek Gandhi, each with more than a million streams.
Wynk Music, offering songs in over 15 Indian languages, sees regional songs accounting for over 30% of the overall streams. The platform’s ambitious goal is to provide a rewarding journey for all stakeholders in the music industry by leveraging Airtel’s extensive experience in music streaming and its established relationship with over 350 million customers.
