On January 11, the Calcutta High Court issued a directive prohibiting any coercive actions against Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers in relation to an FIR filed against them following the Sandeshkhali raid.

The ED reported that three of its officers sustained injuries, and their belongings were seized during an attack in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district, on January 5. The assault occurred while they were en route to Shajahan Sheikh’s residence for a raid linked to alleged irregularities in the State’s ration system.

During the court proceedings, the ED counsel informed that four cases were registered in connection with the incident. Among these, one was filed by the ED regarding the attack on its officials, while another was against its own officers.

Justice Jay Sengupta verbally instructed that no coercive measures should be taken in connection with the FIR against ED officials involved in the search operation at Shajahan Sheikh’s premises in Sandeshkhali.
