Central Command of the U.S. military reported that the Houthi attack consisted of bomb-carrying drones along with one anti-ship ballistic missile.
According to the Central Command, the U.S. conducted an airstrike, destroying three anti-ship missiles and three bomb-carrying drone boats. Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, a spokesperson for the Houthi military, acknowledged the attack but stated that their forces targeted two American warships without providing further details. Mr. Saree emphasized that the Houthis would persist until the aggression ceased and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip was lifted.
Mr. Saree did not acknowledge the subsequent U.S. airstrikes. The Houthis have refrained from providing an assessment of the damage incurred in the American-led strikes that commenced in January. However, they have stated that at least 22 of their fighters have been killed.

Despite over a month and a half of U.S.-led airstrikes, Houthi rebels have continued to demonstrate their ability to carry out significant attacks. These include the recent attack on a cargo ship, the Rubymar, transporting fertilizer, which sank on Saturday after drifting for several days. Additionally, they have also successfully downed an American drone valued at tens of millions of dollars.
The Houthis have been broadcasting messages to ships via radio in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden since the onset of their attacks. On Wednesday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center reported that a new series of such radio messages were sent to a ship and advised crews to report any suspicious activity they encounter.
Meanwhile, the Indian Navy shared a video showcasing its sailors from the INS Kolkata battling a fire aboard the MSC Sky II. The vessel had been targeted by the Houthis in the Gulf of Aden on Monday. Smoke billowed from one container aboard the ship, which displayed scorch marks resulting from the impact of a Houthi missile.
The Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Co. stated that the missile hit the ship while it was en route from Singapore to Djibouti. “The missile caused a small fire that has been extinguished, with no injuries reported among the crew,” the company announced.
