As the daughter of legendary actor Sridevi, who gained fame in the southern film industry with her remarkable performances before making a mark in Bollywood, many might have anticipated Janhvi Kapoor’s eventual foray into the South. However, few could have predicted the magnitude of her debut, particularly in the Telugu film industry. Janhvi is set to feature in two consecutive projects alongside two of the industry’s biggest stars, marking a significant launch for her career in Tollywood.
After securing a pivotal role in the NTR Jr.-starrer “Devara: Part 1,” Janhvi Kapoor has now been cast as the female lead in the upcoming Ram Charan-starrer, tentatively titled RC16. The film’s production company, Mythri Movie Makers, made the announcement on Janhvi’s 27th birthday, stating, “Welcoming the celestial beauty on board for #RC16 ✨ Happy Birthday to the mesmerizing #JanhviKapoor ❤️🔥,” on X (formerly Twitter).
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, known for his directorial debut with the 2021 critically and commercially acclaimed Telugu movie “Uppena,” RC16 is positioned as a pan-Indian film. It marks the return of Ram Charan following his appearance in “Acharya” (2022).
Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman is set to compose the tracks for RC16, with further details about the remaining cast and crew to be disclosed soon.
Apart from “Devara” and “RC16,” Janhvi Kapoor is concurrently involved in two other projects. She is working on Sharan Sharma’s “Mr & Mrs Mahi,” which is based on the life of cricketer and former team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Additionally, she is part of Sudhanshu Saria’s patriotic thriller “Ulajh,” where she will appear alongside Rajkummar Rao in “Mr & Mrs Mahi,” while “Ulajh” also features Gulshan Devaiah and Roshan Mathew.
Janhvi, the daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and veteran actor Sridevi, entered the film industry with her debut role in Shashank Khaitan’s “Dhadak,” a remake of the 2016 Marathi blockbuster “Sairat,” where she played the lead role.
