Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s song “Oo Antava” from “Pushpa: The Rise” garnered immediate acclaim upon its release. Samantha recently shared insights into filming the song, revealing that she felt “shaking” during the initial shot. Furthermore, she elaborated on her decision to abstain from future dance numbers.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2024, Samantha likened her choice to do “Oo Antava” and portray Raji in “The Family Man” to a similar decision-making process. She highlighted the importance of autonomy in her choices, free from external influences. Samantha expressed that she took on “Oo Antava” to explore a new dimension of performance, despite feeling initially uncomfortable with her sexuality and lacking confidence in this area.

Samantha shared, “I’ve always operated from a space of feeling ‘I’m not good enough, I don’t feel pretty, I don’t look like the other girls.’ So, for me, it was a significant challenge. It was actually during the first shot of ‘Oo Antava’… I was trembling with fear because being sexy is not something I’m accustomed to. It’s not my forte. However, both as an actor and as a person, I’ve grown by consistently placing myself in the most uncomfortable, unforgiving, and challenging circumstances.”

When asked if she would consider doing another dance number, Samantha replied, “No, I don’t find the challenge in it anymore.” She also explained that her initial reason for taking up the song was to amplify the message of moving beyond the judgment of women who aspire to look good. Samantha remarked, “I believe, for me, it was the lyrics. It presented a challenge. And I think we should progress beyond scrutinizing women for wanting to appear good. We are capable of doing everything. We can look good.”

On the professional front, Samantha was recently seen in the film “Kushi” opposite Vijay Devarakonda. Her upcoming project is “Citadel,” where she stars alongside Varun Dhawan.
