In a bid to convey confidence in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) returning to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Union Council of Ministers in discussing a 100-day agenda for rapid implementation post the formation of the new government in May 2024, during its recent meeting on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister purportedly encouraged his colleagues, saying, “Go and win. We will reconvene shortly.” Government sources revealed that the Council of Ministers also engaged in discussions regarding the vision document for “Viksit Bharat 2047 (Developed India 2047)” and a comprehensive action plan for the upcoming five years.
A source revealed that the roadmap for Viksit Bharat has been meticulously crafted over a span of more than two years, involving extensive preparation. It adopts a comprehensive “whole of government” strategy, engaging all Ministries and conducting wide-ranging consultations with State governments, academia, industry bodies, civil society, and scientific organizations. Additionally, youth mobilization efforts were undertaken to gather their ideas, suggestions, and inputs, resulting in over 2,700 meetings, workshops, and seminars held at various levels. The initiative garnered suggestions from more than 20 lakh youth.
According to the source, the roadmap for ‘Viksit Bharat’ presents a detailed blueprint encompassing a national vision, aspirations, goals, and actionable points. It aims to address various areas such as economic growth, sustainable development goals, improving ease of living and doing business, enhancing infrastructure, and advancing social welfare initiatives.
Previously, Mr. Modi instructed his ministerial colleagues to conduct thorough consultations and, utilizing the feedback received, formulate a plan of action for the initial 100 days of the incoming government. This plan was to be discussed during the final Union Council of Ministers’ meeting. Additionally, the Niti Aayog played a role in refining the draft plan of action.
As part of this initiative, on December 11, 2023, the Prime Minister initiated an outreach program aimed at gathering insights from youth regarding their vision for India in 2047. During this program, Mr. Modi emphasized that every nation experiences a pivotal moment in history, offering the opportunity for exponential development.
