Actor Jiiva is set to portray Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Yatra 2, following Mammootty’s portrayal of Jagan’s father, late politician YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the first installment. Jiiva recently revealed the advice he received from the Malayalam superstar regarding playing a politician.
Reflecting on their interaction, Jiiva shared with India Today, “I first met him during the production of Anandham in 2001. After two decades, our paths crossed again on the sets of Yatra 2. Though our time together was brief, it was immensely enjoyable. I asked him, ‘Sir, you portrayed YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the first part. Did you encounter any challenges?’ To which he simply responded, ‘What challenges? We are merely actors.'”
Adding further, the actor remarked, “I expressed my gratitude as his words were truly thought-provoking. He emphasized that as actors, we transition between various roles. Additionally, he stated, ‘Merely because we portray a character in a film doesn’t signify our endorsement of them or their political party. As a Tamil individual and an actor, the entire world is our stage.'”
Yatra 2, a biographical film centered on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is scheduled for release on February 8. Directed by Mahi V Raghav, who also helmed the first installment, the upcoming movie features Ketaki Narayan and Mahesh Manjrekar in prominent roles.
